On 29 October 2024 in Carlow, Ireland, Teagasc held its latest NEG meeting, convening key figures from across the Irish agricultural industry to discuss significant developments and ongoing challenges in crop nutrition management. The meeting was attended by an impressive roster of stakeholders, including tillage advisors, agronomists, researchers, and farmer representatives, all of whom are committed to advancing sustainable agricultural practices and improving nutrient efficiency on Irish farms.
Presentations and Discussions:
- Dr. David Wall presented on the barriers and drivers in crop nutrition, alongside findings from a farmer needs survey. He also discussed tools for cost-benefit analysis.
- Cathal Redmond introduced the NutriCheck-Network project and presented on the selection of tools developed in Work Package 2 (WP2).
- Mark Plunkett chaired a discussion on CNC farmers’ challenges and barriers in crop nutrition management, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the tools and technologies under evaluation.
