Precision Farming at the Heart of Field Day in Kėdainiai District, Lithuania

The 3rd Field Day organised in June by LAAS took place on 25 June at the farm of Šarūnas Šiušė in the Kėdainiai district, where advisors and farmers gathered to explore advanced precision farming practices.

Šiušė showcased his use of N sensors and variable rate PK fertilisation to fine-tune nutrient applications. The farm’s strategy focuses on maintaining soil health through organic matter inputs and regular soil analysis, ensuring fertilisation decisions are grounded in accurate, up-to-date data.

Nitrogen is applied in-season using sensor guidance, improving nutrient use efficiency and reducing environmental impact. As with Bardauskas’ farm, the 2024 trials conducted here provided valuable comparative insights into both nutrient and micronutrient management.
