NUTRI-CHECK NET Kilkenny CNC Field Day

On February 21st, the Kilkenny CNC group gathered for an informative Field Day, supported by the NUTRI-CHECK NET project. The event featured valuable insights from Teagasc experts, aimed at improving farming practices across the region.

Shay Phelan, Teagasc Tillage Specialist, guided growers through the critical timings for fungicide applications on winter cereals. Conor Kavanagh, Teagasc Tillage Advisor for Tipperary, discussed the importance of matching phosphorus and potassium offtakes with fertiliser applications to build soil fertility.

Mark Trimble, Teagasc Tillage Advisor, talked about fertiliser strategies for oilseed rape and emphasized the need for green area index counts to target nitrogen applications effectively. Patrick Heffernan rounded off the day by discussing machinery safety on the farm and the importance of compliance with regulations for farm vehicles on public roads.

The event, supported by the NUTRI-CHECK NET project, was a great success, providing participants with essential knowledge to enhance their farming practices.
