On June 10th, 2024, a field day was held in Northern Jutland focusing on phosphor application for cash crops.
Participants discussed the effect of different phosphor sources for cash crops and how new analysis for phosphor in soil may give better results, leading to more precise adjustments in the amount of phosphor used in Northern Jutland, where there are local difficulties with phosphor uptake in plants. They examined an experiment with different slurry application methods in a regenerative field. The Nutri-Check project was also presented, highlighting the value of a network for sharing knowledge about plant nutrition.
Main conclusion:
Soil analysis for phosphor is not precise enough in the northern and southern parts of Jutland. A new type of soil analysis method is on its way to being approved for legal use by the Danish farming ministry, and local advisers look forward to using it for nutrient management at Danish farms.
Regenerative farming is still a very new way of farming in Denmark. It is challenging to find a method for slurry application on Danish fields without causing disturbance to the soil surface.
Networks between farmers and advisors are important for sharing knowledge. The Nutri-Check project also provides more knowledge about the use of different nutrition management tools.
