Cultiwise and Farmhand Demonstrate Advanced Drone Technology on Irish CNC Farm

On 2 July, Cultiwise, in association with Farmhand, part of the Amazone group, carried out a live demonstration of one of their advanced drone technology packages on the farm of CNC farmer Don Somers.

The event was attended by Simon Neville, also a CNC farmer from Wexford, and John Pettit, Wexford tillage advisor with Teagasc.

Mapping for Precision Agriculture

The showcased drone is designed to map fields across several parameters, including the creation of biomass maps. These maps can be used to apply fertiliser or adjust seed rates with precision, ensuring inputs are used efficiently and sustainably.

Targeted Weed Control

The technology also enables weed detection and the generation of prescription maps for targeted spraying. When paired with a section-controlled or individual nozzle-controlled sprayer, this allows for spot spraying, reducing chemical usage and lowering costs.

A Step Forward for Irish Farming

Attendees praised the demonstration for highlighting how drone-based data can support better on-farm decisions. By combining accurate mapping with precision application, farmers can improve yields, enhance input efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.

This demonstration reinforces Cultiwise’s commitment to introducing innovative agricultural technologies to Irish farms, driving the adoption of precision farming practices.
