On April 8th, CNC farmer Martin Ennis began a NUTRI-CHECK NET trial on his winter wheat crop in collaboration with Teagasc. The focus of the trial is to compare solid nitrogen fertiliser with liquid nitrogen supplied by Omex, providing insight into the performance of different nitrogen sources under real farm conditions.
To support the trial, Omex generously provided their NBPT urease inhibitor, NitroShield, free of charge. Luke, sales manager at Omex, personally arranged the delivery to Martin’s farm, helping ensure the trial was set up efficiently and with the right tools in place. NitroShield is designed to reduce nitrogen losses, supporting more efficient nutrient use.
This work forms part of the ongoing NUTRI-CHECK NET programme, which connects farmers, Teagasc advisers, and industry partners to generate valuable on-farm data. Trials like this help build a clearer picture of what works in Irish conditions and support better decision-making on nutrient management.
