The NUTRI-CHECK NET Platform: A New Era for Crop Nutrition Management
A groundbreaking resource is now available for farmers, agronomists, and researchers aiming to improve crop nutrition practices in Europe. Developed under the NUTRI-CHECK NET project, the NUTRI-CHECK NET Platform is an online inventory consolidating recommendation systems, tools and services, and research projects related to crop nutrient management.
During an informative walkthrough, Alexandros Fournarakos, representing the Agricultural University of Athens, detailed the platform’s features, which target key crops like wheat, maize, and potatoes while focusing on critical nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K).
Key elements of the platform include:
- Recommendation Systems (RS): Country- and region-specific guidelines for calculating crop nutrient requirements. Users can filter systems based on criteria like country, crop, and nutrient type, gaining access to detailed descriptions and sources.
- Tools and Services (T&S): A collection of resources offering features such as licensing details, language availability, and usage instructions for better farm management.
- Research Projects (RP): Insights into various crop nutrition-related projects, with detailed reports on objectives, findings, and outcomes.
The latest feature, a comparison tool, allows users to evaluate different entries side-by-side, offering clarity on nutrient guidelines, crop focus, and more.
“This platform is a step toward improving crop nutrition efficiency and sustainability across Europe,” said Fournarakos. “Future updates will include expanded entries and best practices for crop nutrition.”
The NUTRI-CHECK NET Platform is poised to revolutionize nutrient management and contribute to sustainable agriculture practices, ensuring a healthier future for crops and communities alike.
